believe it should be open, i personally like when my partner shares whats on his mind or going on at work, without habving to asking about whats going on in his personal life.
I try to share more positive then negative going on in my life or end off on a positive note i dont want my partner to think he is a dumping ground for all my stress. Each should be open book, but its all in how you share that i think is most important.

I think there should be some privacy in the relationship. Your partner shouldn't have to know every detail of your life on a daily basis. If you feel there's a problem communicate and talk about it instead of asking who they talked to did they go anywhere where were you where you going ect

It shouldn’t have to be private to the extent you don’t know what is going on , usually a partner should be able to talk to his or her partner about anything and not be ashame .

Should be as open as possible, sometimes there are things you can't share or at least right away but I think both partners shouldn't be completely private about anything.

It's a relationship so you have to share things!

If the feelings are real, you should know each other's ins and outs, ups and downs. How else can you be 100% comfortable with each other if you don't know what makes your partner tick?

I don't think there should be secrets, but it's kind of sort of impossible to not have a private life of some kind at leas. I think it's more of a compromise kind of thing for a lot of couples

Things should not be private from each other. At least on purpose. if you feel like you need to hide something from your spouse that's a sign that there are two problems... one thing that you feel like you should be hiding in to the fact that you want to hide something from your spouse.

I mean, things like party plans or surprises or work life stuff is fine. There are some days after all where nothing of interest might happen, and therefore nothing to really say. I don't think my baby should feel the need to report to me as if he's some kind of machine, but I do feel that total honesty is key to a lot of communication issues. There are some things we may keep to ourselves until we feel it is the right time to say them, too, and though it saddens me at times, it's fine. We're working on it. :) and that's fine too.

It depends on the couple. We all come from different life experiences. As long as communicating doesn't stop or lead to assumptions, it's ok to say that you aren't quite comfortable discussing certain things at that time.

I think it varies from person to person and you should avoid feeling slighted if your partner is not comfortable being entirely open on certain subjects. Privacy does not have to mean secrets are being kept.

With that said, I personally wanted that for myself and my partner because I could not help myself from wanting to know everything about them.
